Installing Bruzual & Charlot 2003 (GALAXEV) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard

You can follow the same procedure for Linux, except that csh probably is already installed at /bin/csh and gfortran needs to be installed differently (see this post).

I’m struggling to instal Galaxev on my computer. My system is Wins 7. Do you know how to deal with it?
    Thanks in advance!

Tang — All these research-oriented software are not intended to be used on Windows. I think your best best would be to install cygwin or use virtual machine to prepare a Linux-like environment on your computer.

I see, thank you. I will try to use virtual linux system on my computer. But do you notice that they came out with updated version 2012? Do I need to just download and decompress all the files in subdirectory? Thanks for your help. I’m really not good at it.

Tang — I am not sure about an update to B&C models. If they have an updated version, the install might be easier on that one in more up-to-date computing environment we have these days. The program structure was pretty obsolete even back in 2003… 😛
